Job Description

SUMMARY

The Tutor is responsible for working with students to help them in understanding and applying key curriculum concepts.  The Tutor will report directly to the Academic Dean.  This individual must have a clear command of communication skills, critical thinking skills and test taking strategies.  This individual must be resourceful and collaborative.  The goal of this position is to assist students in understanding and retaining key concepts in order to help support success in their coursework and retaining key concepts in order to help support success in their coursework and applicable national licensure examinations or certifications.  All Concorde associates are required to display professionalism and uphold Concorde’s Mission and the core values of respect for the individual, integrity, teamwork, customer service, and achievement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide tutoring for specific courses and content such as Math, Chemistry, College Algebra, English Composition, dosage calculations, proportions, Anatomy and Physiology
  • Provide tutoring or assistance with ESL students
  • Provide tutoring for APA and other writing concepts
  • Teach time management and skills related to study and concept retention
  • Teach test taking strategies, techniques, critical thinking skills and note-taking
  • Tutor students in curriculum concepts and content
  • Develop PowerPoint and other instructional resources to address necessary content and concepts based on varying student needs for individual or group tutoring sessions
  • Assist with licensure examination preparation if needed
  • Maintain open communication between Dean, PD’s, and Student Affairs
  • Assist in monitoring academically at-risk students
  • Assist students and graduates with navigating applicable Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Identify resources that will assist students
  • Report student attendance at tutoring sessions and progress to the faculty and PD
  • Maintain an encouraging, supportive, and positive attitude
  • Maintain the privacy of student progress during and after tutoring sessions
  • Ensure tutoring schedule is conducive to student attendance
  • Proctor online examinations as needed
  • Adheres to the policy and procedures of the organization
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and experience in related field
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Experience working with adult learners, first generation college students, and students from diverse backgrounds
