Job Description

This position is a direct report to the Director of Financial Aid with supervisory responsibility for the financial aid staff in the absence of the Director of Financial Aid. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid position is responsible for advising students and their families. This position requires skills necessary to analyze complex situations and exercise judgment in conducting a federal need analysis, verification and initial packaging for the processing of Title IV aid applications. This position works with a team of professionals under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advising students regarding all aspects of their financial need including need analysis and award calculations using federal, state and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Processing and monitoring of documents to ensure expeditious processing of FASFA aid applications and ISIR/SAR. Ensure accurate disbursement of federal and institutional funding.
  • Certification and processing in ELM and monitoring of documents to ensure expeditious receipt of student and parent loans offered through the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program.
  • Oversight of federal and institutional verification policies and procedures.
  • Review financial aid student files and documents to determine accuracy of a student’s eligibility for state, federal and institutional aid prior to the students class start.
  • Responsible for reviewing satisfactory academic progress of aid recipients.
  • Training and development of student financial aid personnel and follow-up to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institution policies and procedures.
  • Completion and maintenance of required records and reports. Completion of reports within prescribed deadlines as required by federal, state and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Assure compliance with school catalog.
  • Has an in depth knowledge of Title IV.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Coordinate with the Business Manager to ensure proper disbursement of federal funds. Monitor retention of required documentation.
  • Coordinate and monitor institutional campus based policies and procedures.
  • Assist students and parents with financial aid questions and issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree preferred, associates degree required with willingness to acquire a bachelors degree.
  • 3-5 years of Title IV administration.
  • Knowledge and ability to run and interpret CAMPUS Vue reports.
  • Knowledge of current federal financial aid regulations with operational knowledge of needs analysis and packaging.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be highly organized and willing to rearrange priorities to meet changing workload needs and deadline demands.
  • Must be computer literate and have a familiarity with CLASS and ELM a plus.
